Alpha Tau
Omega Officially Licensed Vendors
Overview
Alpha Tau Omega’s goal is to provide its members and alumni
with a diverse selection of high quality products at reasonable
prices. We have empowered Affinity Marketing Consultants,
Inc. (AMC) to work closely with licensed vendors to choose
appropriate product designs that utilize the official colors
and logos of our organization and to provide exceptional
service to their customers. Alpha Tau Omega firmly opposes
any product or design that attempts to glorify alcohol, hazing,
sexism, racism, or any other image that conflicts with the
ideals and principles of Alpha Tau Omega.
In order to safeguard appropriate marketing of our federally
registered trademarks and to guarantee quality products,
ATO is a member of a consortium of Greek organizations (fraternities
and sororities) that have entered into a trademark licensing
agreement with AMC. AMC will represent ATO in granting licenses
to companies that manufacture merchandise with our name,
Greek letters and insignia. ATO continues to place a priority
on protecting our membership's interests. Through the licensing
program, the National Fraternity has approval rights over
all designs, which depict our name, Greek letters and all
products on which our insignia appears. Any manufacturer
wishing to use ATO’s name, Greek letters or insignia on merchandise
must become licensed prior to selling our approved products.
Licensed vendors agree to submit all products and designs
for our approval and to pay royalties for use of such marks.
Our goal is to only license companies who are committed to
providing quality products to our members and alumni.
The Greek Licensed Product Logo
This special Greek Licensed Product logo has been designed
for the members of AMC. Once a manufacturer has joined the
licensing program, all products bearing Alpha Tau Omega symbols
will carry the identifying logo from AMC. This logo tells
our members that the Fraternity has approved the product
and that the company is participating in the licensing program.
As informed ATO consumers, our members and alumni play an
essential part in the success of licensing. When purchasing
items in a campus bookstore, Greek specialty shops or through
a catalog, be an informed ATO consumer and "look for the
logo" as an indication that the product is official ATO merchandise.
Note that this is really no different than your University
or College licensing its marks on sweatshirts, hats, decals
and t-shirts.
Honor Versus Ownership
A member, upon initiation, earns the honor of displaying
any ATO marks from licensed vendors, but one does not receive
ownership of those marks. Just as a student at the University
of Florida or an employee of IBM does not individually own
their marks, neither does an initiated member of a Greek
organization and specifically ATO. Nor do they have the right
to authorize an unlicensed vendor to produce trademarked
merchandise.
What Does a Licensed Vendor Mean?
Vendors who have agreed to work with Alpha Tau Omega to
ensure the proper use of our trademarks and to sell quality
merchandise at reasonable prices. Many licensed vendors provide
a royalty payment to the National Fraternity to support leadership
and educational programs and services.
