This scholarship, dedicated to the memory of Jeffrey Scott Hamilton, South Carolina ‘92., was created to honor his commitment to friendships that he made with people from all walks of life. It is being given to encourage and recognize not only academic achievement, but those who exemplify the friendship that was the basis envisioned when ATO was founded.

One or more scholarships will be awarded annually.

II. The Award is based on the following criteria:

  • Each candidate shall be an initiated or uninitiated pledge member of the Alpha Phi chapter of Alpha Tau Omega at the University of South Carolina.

  • Each candidate shall excel in scholastic excellence, leadership development and good citizenship.

  • Preference will be given to those Alpha Phi chapter members who exemplify and demonstrate the highest level of friendship and Brotherly love.

      

Using these criteria, and in accordance with the Pension Protection Act of 2006, potential scholarship recipients shall be nominated by initiated members of the chapter. Final recipients shall be selected and recommended to the Foundation by a committee of chapter Brothers, Alpha Phi Board of Trustee members, House Corporation members, or Alpha Phi alumni, which may also include a member or friend of the Hamilton family, as long as that individual does not directly or indirectly control the committee.

Applications need to be submitted no later than May 1, 2008. If your application is selected, scholarship award checks will be awarded at the Jeffrey Scott Hamilton Memorial Golf Outing if possible.

GPA verification/transcripts need to be emailed to the ATO Foundation (cheri@atofoundation.org) no later than June 1, 2008.
