Colony to Chapter: Theta Mu

On Saturday, December 10, 2011, the Alpha Tau Omega National Fraternity rechartered the Theta Mu chapter at Elmhurst College.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect,” said Chapter President Sean Sullivan, Elmhurst ’11. “I was extremely nervous...It almost seemed like a dream.”

Over 100 people were in attendance for the reception including several members of the Elmhurst Administration. Dean of Students Dr. Eileen Sullivan, Associate Dean of Students Ian Crone, Assistant Director Student Activities Elizabeth Doyle, and Director of Athletics Paul Krohn all were present and had nothing but glowing remarks about the new chapter.

“This just has been an incredible experience,” said BOT Chairman Tyson Johnson, Southern Illinois ’81, “they're just a bunch of guys with just an incredible enthusiasm.”

Johnson later remarked that he was very proud of what the men have achieved and only expects them to advance from here.

“Our alumni have given us an amazing foundation to build off of,” said Dan Wiedmann, Elmhurst ’11. “It feels like I’m part of a family ... it’s one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had.”

National Board Member Dave Krug, Illinois ’92, had the honor of initiating the 44 men into Theta Mu. National Ritual Counselor John Potts, Indiana ’73, was also in attendance along with ATO staff members including CEO Wynn Smiley, Director of Expansion Bobby Grangier and Leadership Consultant Grant Lyon.
