The Richard A. Ports Public Affairs Award recognizes the most outstanding ATO junior with a demonstrated interest in public affairs/political science with an internship in Washington, D.C., when available. This prestigious award established in memory of Richard A. Ports, Mount Union ’50, Chief of Province XII, who was killed in an auto accident while returning home from visiting a chapter. Brother Ports was active in California and national politics prior to his death in 1965.
The Alpha Tau Omega Foundation pays a $150/week stipend, travel to and from Washington, D.C., and housing during the entire internship.
The ATO chosen to receive this internship will spend six to eight weeks in Washington, D.C. during the Summer or Fall of 2010
Applications and supporting documents must be postmarked by March 19, 2010 and mailed to the ATO Foundation. Your completed application along with your official transcripts and three letters of recommendation MUST be mailed. No email or faxed application will be accepted.
