The Alpha Tau Omega Foundation is proud to again make available more than $100,000 in National scholarships to ATOs across the country. If you are interested and qualified, complete your application (follow the link below),
attach your transcript and three letters of recommendation. You must then return the application and attachments to ATO National Headquarters
by September 21, 2012. Your application will be reviewed and scholarships will be awarded on the following scale: 40% academic achievements; 30% demonstrated leadership in ATO; and 30% demonstrated leadership on campus and in the community. Requirements for consideration for the awards are: each candidate must be initiated member of ATO in good standing, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Robert J. Simonds Scholarship AND The Frederick C. Philbrick Memorial Scholarship:
The Frederick C. Philbrick Memorial Scholarship and the Robert J. Simonds Scholarship were created to assist deserving ATO undergraduates in continuing their education. They were established to recognize ATO's from the University of Illinois Gamma Zeta chapter.
To be eligible, a candidate:
- shall be an initiate of Gamma Zeta chapter of Alpha Tau Omega;
- shall be a full time student at the University of Illinois during the 2012-2013 academic year;
- shall have attained a grade point average above the all men’s GPA at the University of Illinois;
- shall exhibit leadership responsibilities in the community and the school;
- shall exhibit leadership responsibilities in the Gamma Zeta Chapter.
The Matt Heldman Gamma Zeta Memorial Scholarship
In August 2000, the Gamma Zeta House Corporation made gifts to the ATO Foundation, Inc. to create the Matt Heldman Gamma Zeta Memorial Scholarship. Brother Heldman pledged in the spring of 1995, was an active member for 4 years, and a 3 year starter on the Fighting Illini basketball team. He is most remembered for his competitive spirit, drive to succeed, and kind heart. His outstanding character, positive mental attitude, discipline, and respect for others epitomize the values sought and taught by Alpha Tau Omega. Brother Heldman's life was cut short on October 10, 1999, in a tragic automobile accident.
To be eligible, a candidate:
- shall be an initiate of Gamma Zeta chapter of Alpha Tau Omega;
- be a junior or senior in good standing with the chapter;
Scholarships awards will be based on the following qualifications:
- Athletic Achievements (25%), as a non-scholarship varsity athlete or intramural athlete;
- Academic Achievements (25%), with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
- Leadership (25%); as demonstrated through fraternity or extracurricular activities;
- Extracurricular Activities (25%), including extensive involvement in multiple campus organizations.
